Nehru - the principal strategian of the contemporary India.

Imagine a country which treads on the path of emerging as one of the fastest growing economy, which is world's largest democracy, which accounts for around 17% of the total global population ,which is seventh largest in terms of area, frequently criticises its modern architect on the basis of outlandish facts and figures. As an Indian it is not beyond our imagination as for the mere sense politics and vendetta the self proclaimed nationalists often leave no stone unturned in condemning Jawahar Lal Nehru responsible for all the so called 'misdeeds' which he happened to made in the twentieth century.
Nehru once and for all is the modern architect of India. The moment our country broke the shackles of slavery and freed itself,it was Nehru along with other prominent nationalists who took the reins of a demolished nation affected by the haunt of partition and communalism,in their hands and worked tirelessly towards making a self reliant India. His modernity was a rational design which displayed the idea of secular India. The first prime minister, desired to witness a nation where citizens imbued with knowledge, should create a secular public sphere. Nehru's inclination towards Soviet style of governance is not unhidden, though he chose to stay away from either of the powerful blocs - western bloc (led by USA promoting capitalism)  and Soviet bloc (led by the then USSR eulogizing communism) .
Pandit Nehru played a significant role in the creation of NAM founded on the ideals of third world countries.
However it would be injustice to completely turn a blind eye to his unsubstantial decisions that showed no signs of progress. His philosophy of Nehruvian socialism - having utmost faith in Soviet model, could not bring about much needed transformations during second half of the twentieth century. Hegemonic public sector and ineffective central planning paved the way for late private sector revolutions which country witnessed as late as in early 1990s. As every coin has got two faces, Nehru's method of governance too was dynamic. Nonetheless, the principal strategian of contemporary India, eulogized the principle of tolerance and promoted the ideals fruitful in safeguarding the uniqueness of a diverse country.
