Welcome to the great U.P politics.

When the elections to the largest state of the country are due, the aura required to soothe the preconditions of electoral fervour has to be distinctive. The stage is set. The pawns are laid out in the battlefield. Sooner rather than later election dates will be announced. Election rallies are going on uninterruptedly in full swing.

The assembly election of 2022 is somewhat unique given the challenging circumstances which have reeled the mankind under its disastrous influence. Two years ago, when the world had come across corona for the very first time, back then, lockdown being the most effective method available at one's disposal to check the spread of deadly virus, was imposed.

No section of society remained untouched by the problems which lockdown had brought about. Students who had always been taught offline had to shift themselves to online mode of education. Patients who faced the brunt of non-availability of doctors as the 'form of the god on earth' were reluctant to examine them due to intimidation posed by corona.

Momentarily shutting down of industries and factories saw returning of trails of barefoot migrant labourers to their native villages on an empty stomach. The sacredness of Gangetic plain was defiled when pyres were burnt hastily and carelessly.

In spite of all the aforementioned tragedies, all the political parties, unashamedly, have acceded to the plans of holding the election on time. In democracy, rallies witness mass gathering of people, which in itself is a superspreader event, conducive for the spread of corona. When such rallies are organised corona SOPs are always flouted. Previous year realised the same experience when political parties were provided with free hand to conduct electoral gatherings at their will. This did no good but only contributed in the revival of corona leading in huge loss of people.

Either political parties are blessed by some supernatural power to run rallies as and when they feel the need or they are recalcitrant enough to understand the peril of this invisible enemy.
